Irregularities Plague Government Operations in Gudari Block, Raise Concerns Among Residents
Gudari block in Odisha finds itself in the spotlight as persistent irregularities in government operations have sparked criticism from residents and local leaders. The Gudari Panchayat Samiti, once entrusted with district-level authority to implement government programs, has seen a steady decline in efficiency and accountability.
Reports reveal that the quality of work executed under the supervision of Mr. Rao, an active member of the Panchayat Samiti, has been far from satisfactory. Local representatives allege that projects are marred by delays and substandard execution, leading to public dissatisfaction. Despite occasional visits by senior officials, residents report that meaningful oversight and accountability are often lacking.
Adding to the woes, the Panchayat Samiti has failed to convene regular meetings for over four months. In the absence of proactive governance, the additional responsibilities assigned to the Ramnaguda group officer have not sufficed to address the growing concerns in Gudari block.
Zilla Parishad member Suchimitra Behera highlighted another glaring issue: the non-joining of Mr. Pati Kraska, who was directed to assume the role of Community Development Officer on January 7, 2025. Despite the government directive, Mr. Kraska has yet to report to duty, further exacerbating administrative inefficiency.
The lack of a permanent Block Development Officer (BDO) in Gudari block has also drawn criticism. Balram Kadambullu, a senior citizen and BJD member, lamented that several villages under the Panchayat’s jurisdiction continue to struggle for basic amenities like drinking water. He accused the government of neglecting its responsibilities and disregarding rules related to office transfers, leaving Gudari block in administrative limbo.
The current situation has resulted in widespread frustration among residents, who feel abandoned by the very systems designed to improve their lives.
According to Sri Pati, several villages under the Gudari block, including Madhubana Gram Panchayat (GP) Urlapadar, Hiranjibadi, Kutudugonda, and Rachim, are facing severe water crises. For these communities, stream water serves as their lifeline.
Additionally, the lack of proper infrastructure, such as pucca roads, further exacerbates their hardships. Roads connecting villages like Ladi Guda to Burudi, Sakra Baju to Marti Guda, and Mudulipada to Chalipada, along with many others under Khairagguda and Siriguda GPs, remain undeveloped, causing immense inconvenience.
Despite these pressing issues, the government’s inaction has left residents feeling neglected. Immediate intervention is crucial to address these challenges. Without prompt and effective measures, the situation in Gudari block risks further alienating its people and deepening the trust deficit in governance.
