District-Level Workshop on “Lakshapati Didi” Empowers Women Towards Self-Reliance

Raigad Sadar, March 11, 2025 – A district-level workshop on the “Lakshapati Didi” initiative was organized at Gobinda Chandra High School by the Odisha Livelihood Mission under the Mission Shakti Department. The event aimed to empower women by enhancing their economic status and guiding them toward self-reliance.
The workshop was inaugurated by additional District Magistrate Mr. Nihar Ranjan Kanhar, the program highlighted by the Prime Minister of India and the Chief Minister of Odisha in promoting women’s economic empowerment. He emphasized that by engaging in agriculture, business, and various government schemes, women can achieve financial independence and contribute to their family’s welfare, particularly in education and healthcare.
Additional District Collector Mr. Naveen Chandra Nayak who highlighted the the program and and mission also encouraged women to explore new economic avenues, while District Chief Development Officer and Executive Officer, District Council, Mr. Akshay Kumar Khemundu, provided insights into the program’s objectives. Shankar Chalan, DPM of Odisha Livelihood Mission, introduced the workshop with preliminary information.
Officials from the Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Resources, Fisheries, and District Industries departments provided valuable insights on utilizing government schemes for entrepreneurship. Lead bank managers and Ormas Deputy CEOs shared strategies to improve financial access for women entrepreneurs.
The workshop saw participation from over 4,000 women, reflecting strong community engagement in the mission to create sustainable livelihoods. The district administration reaffirmed its commitment to supporting women in their journey towards self-reliance, thereby contributing to the overall development of the district and the state.
