Main Accused In AAP Leader's Murder Case Arrested After Encounter In Amritsar, Pistol Seized

 

In a significant development in the murder case of AAP leader Lucky Oberoi, Punjab Police arrested the key accused after a brief shootout in Amritsar on Saturday. As per the police, the accused was arrested in Amritsar’s Khasa area, and a .30-bore pistol was recovered from his possession

The accused, identified as Shaminder Singh, is a resident of Jalandhar’s Mithapur. Deputy Inspector General of Police (Border Range) Sandeep Goel shared details of the arrest and told the reporters that Singh was found waiting on a two-wheeler a short distance from where Oberoi was shot outside a Jalandhar gurdwara on Friday.

AAP leader Lucky Oberoi (43) was shot dead at around 7:30 am on Friday. The incident took place outside the gurdwara in Jalandhar’s Model Town area, shortly after he exited the shrine. He was shot by an unidentified assailant.

As per a report by PTI, the DIG mentioned that the accused had known Oberoi for the past 10-12 years. He assured that strict action would be taken against those who orchestrated the shooting.
