Air India announced the launch of non-stop flights between Delhi and Manila, the capital city of the Philippines, starting 1 October 2025. With the launch of this new route, Air India becomes the only carrier to operate non-stop flights between India and the Philippines, offering seamless connectivity through its Delhi hub and boosting tourism, trade, and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Air India’s service to Manila will operate five days a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays—using the airline’s Airbus A321neo aircraft, featuring a three-class cabin configuration that offers the choice of Business Class, Premium Economy Class, and Economy Class to travellers.

The Philippines recently introduced visa-free entry for Indian tourists for up to 14 days, significantly enhancing accessibility for Indians eager to visit the white-sand beaches of Boracay, the stunning landscapes of Palawan, the historical landmarks in Cebu, and more.

With its 7,000+ islands and a dynamic blend of cultural and modern attractions, the Philippines holds great tourism potential for Indian travellers. Air India’s new route also supports the growing bilateral trade between India and the Philippines, which reached USD 3.53 billion in 2023-24, nearly doubling from USD 1.89 billion in 2015-16, according to the Embassy of India in Manila.

Air India’s flight schedule to Manila ensures not only non-stop connectivity from India but also seamless, one-stop connectivity from Europe via Delhi.

Bookings for Air India’s flights between Delhi and Manila are now open on all channels, including Air India’s website, mobile app, airport ticketing offices, contact centres, and through all travel agents.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several Union Ministers on Monday lauded reigning World Champion D Gukesh for his remarkable victory over five-time world champion Magnus Carlsen in Round 6 of the ongoing Norway Chess 2025 tournament.

Gukesh, 19, stunned the chess world by defeating Carlsen in a gripping encounter that saw the Indian grandmaster claw back from a seemingly losing position. The dramatic turnaround marked Gukesh’s first-ever classical win over the Norwegian legend and former world number one.

Prime Minister Modi praised Gukesh’s performance, writing on X, “An exceptional achievement by Gukesh! Congratulations to him for triumphing over the very best. His first-ever win against Magnus Carlsen in Round 6 of Norway Chess 2025 showcases his brilliance and dedication. Wishing him continued success in the journey ahead.”

The win also made Gukesh only the second Indian player, after grandmaster Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, to beat Carlsen in the tournament’s history.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri hailed Gukesh’s tactical brilliance and composure. “In one of the most spectacular comebacks, India’s @DGukesh plots his way to his first classical win against World No.1 Magnus Carlsen at the Norway Chess 2025 tournament in Stavanger! Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju said in an X post, “Well done @DGukesh! This first win over Magnus Carlsen at Norway Chess 2025 is the beginning of achieving another milestone. Proud of you, Gukesh! You’ve shown the world what quiet confidence & fierce focus can achieve!”

What happened during the play?

Carlsen had dominated much of the match, pressing with a slight advantage. However, in a surprising shift late in the game, Gukesh capitalised on an error and secured a dramatic win. The result has significantly altered the leaderboard. With 8.5 points, Gukesh has moved up to third place, trailing Carlsen and American GM Fabiano Caruana by just one point.

This win is particularly significant considering Gukesh lost to Carlsen in Round 1 on May 27 in their first classical face-off since the Indian prodigy became World Champion. That match had marked Carlsen’s return to individual classical chess after nearly a year.

The valley has a variety of habitats, from foothills to alpine zones, from waterfalls and streams to forests, and is thus very rich in biodiversity.

यूक्रेन में शांति समझौतों पर आम चर्चा के बीच रूस ने बड़ा मिसाइल और ड्रोन अटैक किया है। उत्तरी यूके्रनी शहर डोब्रोपिलिया में रूसी सेना द्वारा रातभर किए गए हमले में 14 लोग मारे गए हैं, जिनमें पांच बच्चे भी शामिल हैं। इनके अलावा 37 लोग घायल भी हुए हैं। रूसी सेना डोनेस्क क्षेत्र में लगातार हमलों को अंजाम दे रही है और इस क्षेत्र में डोनबास पर कब्जे की तैयारी में है। बताया जा रहा है कि रूसी सेना शुक्रवार रात बैलिस्टिक मिसाइलें, कई राकेट्स और ड्रोन से हमले किए, जिसमें आठ बहुमंजिला इमरातें जमींदोज हो गईं।
इस हमले में कमोबेश 30 वाहन तबाह हो गए। इस हमले में 14 लोग मारे गए हैं, जिनमें पांच बच्चे भी हैं और 37 अन्य लोग घायल हुए हैं। यूके्रनी मंत्रालय ने यह भी बताया कि एक अन्य हमले में खार्कीव क्षेत्र में तीन लोगों की मौत हुई है। वहीं दूसरी ओर रूसी रक्षा मंत्रालय ने एक बयान में कहा कि शुक्रवार रात रूसी वायु रक्षा प्रणाली ने 31 यूक्रेनी ड्रोन को रोक दिया और उन्हें नष्ट कर दिया। मंत्रालय ने कहा कि कल रात ड्यूटी पर तैनात वायु रक्षा प्रणालियों ने 31 यूक्रेनी मानव रहित हवाई वाहनों को रोका और उन्हें नष्ट कर दिया। इसने कहा कि क्रास्नोडार क्षेत्र में 26 ड्रोन, ब्रांस्क क्षेत्र में तीन तथा लेनिनग्राद और यारोस्लाव क्षेत्रों में एक-एक ड्रोन को मार गिराया गया।
