Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, also known as Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, was the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. He was a renowned aerospace engineer, scientist, and innovator who played a key role in India’s space and missile programs.
Some of his notable achievements include:
– Developing India’s first satellite launch vehicle, SLV-3
– Leading the team that developed India’s first indigenous nuclear-capable ballistic missile, Agni
– Serving as the Scientific Advisor to the Defence Minister and Secretary to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)
– Receiving the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, in 1997
Dr. Kalam was also a prolific writer and author, and his books, including “Wings of Fire” and “Ignited Minds”, have inspired millions of young Indians. He was known for his simplicity, humility, and dedication to education and innovation.
Dr. Kalam passed away on July 27, 2015, but his legacy continues to inspire and motivate people around the world.
