Google Vids Gets Image-to-Video Tools and AI Avatar Features

Google has rolled out significant updates to Google Vids, its AI-powered video creation and editing platform, aiming to simplify video production with generative AI tools and broaden its accessibility.
New Features Now Generally Available
1. Image-to-Video Generation (Powered by Veo 3)
Users can now transform static images into dynamic 8-second animated video clips with sound using Google’s Veo 3 model. Just upload a photo and enter a descriptive text prompt—it’s perfect for animating product shots or brand visuals.

2. AI-Generated Avatars

Currently, users can choose from 12 preset avatars, but users cannot yet generate custom avatars of themselves.
3. Automatic Transcript Trimming
An AI-powered tool now scans recordings to remove filler words and awkward pauses like “um” and “ah”—streamlining editing and improving flow.

Free Consumer Version
A no-cost, basic version of Google Vids is now available worldwide. It includes templates and core editing tools—though it excludes the advanced AI features like avatars and Veo
