Newly Expanded District Headquarters Hospital and Kolanara Group Health Center Inaugurated by Health Minister
Rayagada, 27 January 2025: On the occasion of General Health Day, the Honorable Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Parliamentary Affairs, and Electronics and Information Technology, Government of Odisha, Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, inaugurated the newly expanded building of the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Rayagada. During his visit, the minister distributed fruits to patients undergoing treatment and personally inquired about their healthcare needs.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of the Honorable MLA of Rayagada, Shri Yukta Kaldaraka Appala, as a distinguished guest. Also in attendance were District Collector Smt. Parul Patwari, District Police Superintendent Swati S. Kumar, Chief Medical and Public Health Officer Dr. Lal Mohan Rautaray, Additional District Collector Nihar Ranjan Kahanra, Chief Development Officer, and other senior district officials.
The newly expanded hospital building, constructed at a cost of ₹8.45 crore, comprises four floors, including the ground floor. The state-of-the-art facility includes:
Ground Floor: Emergency and trauma care unit
First Floor: 10-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Second Floor: 10-bed Zara Centre and Integrated Physical Care Centre
Third Floor: Sakhi Centre for women’s welfare
This expansion is expected to significantly enhance healthcare delivery in the Rayagada district by offering advanced medical services and improving patient care facilities.
In addition to the hospital expansion, the Health Minister also inaugurated the newly constructed Kolanara Group Health Center, built at a cost of ₹2.76 crore, during his visit to the Kolanara block. The new facility includes essential healthcare services such as:
Outpatient and inpatient departments
A maternity ward
An operation theater
The establishment of this health center aims to provide comprehensive medical care to residents, especially those from remote areas of the Kolanara block, ensuring access to quality healthcare services.
The inauguration event at Kolanara was attended by District Collector Smt. Parul Patwari, Chief Medical and Public Health Officer Dr. Lal Mohan Rautaray, Committee Chairperson Smt. Sanjukta Kulesika, and other dignitaries.
The newly developed healthcare infrastructure in Rayagada and Kolanara marks a significant step forward in strengthening the healthcare system in the region, aligning with the government’s commitment to improving public health services across the state.
