“They Destroyed My Life”: Suicide Video of Immigration Firm Owner Implicates Senior Punjab Police Officers
MOHALI, PUNJAB – The suicide of a prominent immigration consultant in Mohali has sent shockwaves through the region after a video filmed by the victim just moments before his death directly accused a high-ranking Punjab Police officer and five others of harassment and extortion, leading to his suicide.
Rajdeep Singh, the owner of an immigration and IELTS coaching company, died by suicide on Wednesday after shooting himself inside the washroom of the HDFC Bank branch in Sector 68. The case, initially seen as a tragic personal matter, has now transformed into a major potential scandal with the emergence of his final, harrowing testimony.
In the self-recorded video, which has since gone viral, a visibly distressed Rajdeep Singh names Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Gurjot Singh Kaler of the Punjab Police as the main individual who allegedly pushed him to the brink. Singh claims he was embroiled in a financial dispute with a business rival, who then allegedly used his police connections to intimidate and blackmail him.
“AIG Gurjot Singh Kaler and his associates have destroyed my life,” Singh alleges in the video, detailing a campaign of relentless harassment. He claims that he was repeatedly threatened with being framed in false cases and that the officers were extorting money from him.
Based on the powerful evidence in the video and a complaint filed by Rajdeep Singh’s family, the Mohali Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against six individuals. The accused include AIG Gurjot Singh Kaler, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), a Station House Officer (SHO), and three private individuals connected to the business dispute.
All six have been booked under Section 306 (Abetment of Suicide) and Section 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
A senior Mohali Police official confirmed the registration of the FIR, stating, “We are treating the video as a dying declaration. A thorough and impartial investigation will be conducted, and the law will take its course, no matter who is involved.”
The incident has sparked outrage and raised serious questions about the alleged misuse of power within the police force. The victim’s family is demanding immediate arrests and a high-level probe to ensure justice is served. As the investigation gets underway, the focus is now squarely on the accused officers and the circumstances that led a successful businessman to take such a drastic and tragic step.
