Skill to Success: Himachal Celebrates Two Years of PM Vishwakarma, Uplifting Over 19,000 Artisans
SHIMLA – The Directorate of Industries, Himachal Pradesh, marked the second anniversary of the transformative PM Vishwakarma Scheme in a grand celebration at its Shimla headquarters today. The event highlighted the profound impact of the initiative, which has already approved over 19,000 applications and provided crucial training to 12,000 traditional artisans across the state, empowering them with new skills and market readiness.
The celebration was graced by Additional Chief Secretary (Industries), Mr. R.D. Nazeem (IAS), who served as the Chief Guest. He was joined by key officials including Dr. Yunus (IAS), Director of Industries, and other senior members of the department, alongside stakeholders from the MSME and banking sectors.
In a remarkable display of inclusive engagement, beneficiaries and artisans participated both in person and virtually from all twelve districts. The seamless virtual coordination, managed by the General Managers of District Industries Centres (DICs), allowed for wide-ranging interaction and ensured that voices from every corner of Himachal were heard.

In his welcome address, Dr. Yunus, Director of Industries, emphasized the smooth and effective implementation of the scheme. “Our department is strongly committed to supporting our state’s artisans,” he stated, highlighting that out of 19,000 approved applications, 12,000 artisans have already completed their training, equipping them with enhanced skills and modern tools.
A key moment of the event was the unveiling of the PM Vishwakarma documentary by Mr. Nazeem, which beautifully illustrated the transformative journeys of traditional artisans from across Himachal Pradesh. Mr. Nazeem also engaged in direct conversations with beneficiaries via video conference, listening to their firsthand accounts of how the scheme has positively impacted their livelihoods and confidence.
During the felicitation ceremony, Mr. Nazeem praised the artisans for their market readiness and their efforts in promoting Himachali craftsmanship on a national stage. He extended his gratitude to the Government of India and the Ministry of MSME for their unwavering support and congratulated the entire team for the successful execution of the scheme.
