Odisha Government’s Standing Committee-VIII Reviews Development Projects in Rayagada
Rayagada, February 4, 2025: The Standing Committee-VIII of the Odisha government, led by the honorable MLA Shri Yukta Manohar Randhari, conducted a comprehensive review of development initiatives in the Rayagada district. The committee praised the leadership of District Collector Parul Patwari for her proactive approach to implementing various schemes.
Accompanied by committee members Dashirathi Gamang, Rupu Bhatra, and Raghuram Mach, the team visited Kailaspur High School, Kolanara Ashram School, and the Kolanara Self-Help Group Center. Discussions were held with students, teachers, and self-help groups on topics such as infrastructure, hygiene, food management, and education. The committee encouraged self-reliance initiatives and addressed challenges related to food supply and clothing distribution for students.
A review meeting convened at 7:00 PM in the District Collector’s conference room, focusing on several key schemes, including Article 275(1), the Chief Minister’s Tribal Livelihood Mission, the Prime Minister’s Model initiatives, and the Biju KBK Plan. Immediate instructions were issued to expedite financial expenditure on these projects, addressing delays in fund utilization from central and state governments.
The District Industrial Center was tasked with promoting entrepreneurship among tribal youth to ensure sustainable development. The committee emphasized the need for skill development and self-employment opportunities in the district.
Senior officials, including Additional District Collector Nihar Ranjan Kahar, ITDA Project Administrator Chandra Kant Majhi, Gunupur ITI Head Ajay Kumar Pradhan, and health officer Swati S. Kumar, participated in the discussions. Reviews of the Tribal Development Agency, labor department, and district industrial agency highlighted the need for coordinated action to address developmental challenges.
On the second day, the committee visited Kumbhikata High School in the Rayagada block, interacting with students and teachers to gain further insights into the local educational environment.
The committee’s visit underscored the Odisha government’s commitment to improving infrastructure, education, and livelihoods in tribal-dominated regions, with special attention to Rayagada’s developmental needs.
