‘Our Goal is to Make One Crore Women Millionaires in the State’
Sakshi, Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated, “Our goal is to make one crore women millionaires in Telangana.” He was speaking at the inauguration of a petrol bunk established by the Women’s Federation in Appakpally, Narayanpet district.
Empowering Women’s Associations
In his address following the inauguration, he criticized the previous government for neglecting women’s associations. “We are taking steps to strengthen women’s groups. We are committed to providing two sarees annually to ensure women live with dignity,” he said. He elaborated that in the past, common sarees were distributed, but now they are providing high-quality sarees to uplift the self-esteem of women.
Promoting Women in Business
“We will encourage women to participate in solar projects where prominent business figures like Ambani and Adani are competing. We aim to propel women into faster growth in their businesses,” he added. Reddy expressed great pride in the establishment of the petrol bunk under the administration of a women’s federation, marking it as a first in the country. He emphasized that this government prioritizes women, firmly believing that women should live with dignity.
Reviving Women’s Self-Help Groups
Since the formation of the people’s government, efforts have been made to revive women’s self-help groups, which now number around 67 lakh in the state. “Our aim remains to make one crore women in Telangana into millionaires,” he stated, highlighting the government’s initiatives to support women across all sectors.
Creating Employment Opportunities
“We have empowered women as owners of 600 RTC buses. We are also facilitating opportunities for women to set up 1000-megawatt solar plants,” he mentioned. Additionally, stalls have been organized to market products made by women’s self-help groups at Shilparamam.
Quality Gifts for Women
Reddy announced the intent to give two sarees as gifts each year to women’s self-help groups, ensuring that these sarees are of high quality, akin to what one would provide for their daughters. “There is no distinction between rural and urban women; all women in Telangana are united,” he stated. He urged for collaboration with MP DK Aruna to secure funds from the central government if needed.
Support for Educational Institutions
“The state government is ready to provide any assistance required for the development of women. Special attention must be given to schools. We will provide the funds, and the management should be your responsibility. Just like we maintain a temple with utmost sanctity, schools should also be maintained in the same manner,” Revanth Reddy concluded, delivering a rallying call for community support in the development of women and educational institutions in the state.
