PSIEC Staff Association’s struggle has been hampered
Chandigarh, 20 March : Since last week, the PSIEC Staff Association has been continuously opposing the letter dated 07.08.2025 issued by the Chief Secretary Punjab Government at Udyog Bhawan, Chandigarh. Through this letter, the Punjab Government had issued orders to deposit crores of rupees of various boards and corporations of Punjab in the treasury of the Punjab Government, amounting to Rs. 1441 crore. From the Punjab Small and Export Corporation, which comes under the Department of Industries and Commerce, Rs. 500 crore was also deposited in the treasury of the Punjab Government, but under the banner of PSIEC Staff Association, a fierce struggle was waged by all the employees, the office work was stopped for two days by going on a hunger strike.
Under whose pressure, the Board of Directors meeting of the Corporation was postponed by the management of the Corporation, in which the agenda of transferring Rs. 500 crore to Punjab was also to be passed. Today, the struggle of the employees of the corporation has come to an end. The Punjab government, bowing to the struggle, issued a letter on 20.08.2025 by the Finance Department. In which, after examining the earlier letter, it was decided that now the corporation’s Rs 500 crore will not be deposited in the government treasury. This information was given by the General Secretary of the organization, Tara Singh. A gate meeting was held today under the leadership of the organization’s president, Deepa Ram, and thanks were expressed to the organizations that joined this struggle. In this struggle, special thanks were given to PSIEC Retiree Association, Punjab School Education Board Daily Wages Employees Union, Federation of Employees and Workers, Democratic Teachers Front Punjab, CITU Mohali, All India Insurance Employees Association, Verka Milk Plot Union, ASHA Worker Union Mohali, PSIDC Union, etc. for their contribution to this struggle.
