Puri, Odisha – 25 February 2025: On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, a young artist from Puri, Saswat Ranjan Sahoo (22), has created a stunning miniature model of the Kedarnath Temple using 602 matchsticks. A heartfelt Devotion to Lord Shiva, this piece displays artistic excellence.
The model, which stands 12 cm tall and 9 cm length, took four days to complete. Assembling each matchstick meticulously was Saswat’s way of replicating one of India’s most revered pilgrimage sites. It is evident that he is creative and dedicated to his craft.
Saswat Ranjan Sahoo explained, “This model is my way of honoring Lord Shiva and my heartfelt greetings on Mahashivratri. The Kedarnath Temple holds great spiritual significance,” he said.
Hailing from Kumbharapada, Puri, Odisha, Saswat has always been passionate about miniature structures. His latest creation has garnered admiration for its precision and artistic representation of the sacred temple.
As Mahashivratri is celebrated with enthusiasm across the country, this remarkable artwork adds a creative touch to the festival’s spirit. Saswat hopes his effort will inspire others to explore handcrafted art and devotion.
