Ride to Clean Air : Cycling on the Path of Environmental Protection
– Covered 12,829 kilometers to reach Himachal Pradesh
– Welcomed at JICA Forestry Project Headquarters in Shimla
– Started cycling on January 26, 2024, just two months after his wedding
Shimla. Renowned cyclist Venlalla Awamjuala, who is on a mission to promote environmental protection and reduce pollution under the “Ride to Clean Air” initiative, has been cycling extensively across India. Hailing from the state of Mizoram, Venlalla decided to embark on a country-wide tour just two months after his wedding, starting his journey from Mizoram on January 25, 2024. After traveling from Kanyakumari to Jammu and Kashmir, he reached the roads of Himachal Pradesh.
After a six-month journey, Venlalla arrived in the capital city of Shimla on Thursday. Upon reaching the JICA Forestry Project Headquarters in Shimla, he received a grand welcome. During the event, Project Director Shrestha Nand Sharma and all the project employees gathered to hear Venlalla share his experiences. So far, he has traveled 12,829 kilometers, spreading the message of environmental conservation and pollution control throughout the country.
Venlalla mentioned that his main goal is to complete a journey of 22,800 kilometers across the country. It is noteworthy that Venlalla Awamjuala, working under the Mizoram Pollution Control Board, is spreading the message of “Ride to Clean Air” across all states of India. He also mentioned that he is cycling to secure a place in the India Book of Records, while encouraging the nation to maintain clean air.
R. Lallan Sanga, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests in Himachal Pradesh, also attended the event at the JICA Forestry Project Headquarters. He expressed his gratitude to the entire project staff for welcoming the famous cyclist, Venlalla Awamjuala.
