Scandal Unfolds at Rayagada District Medical Office Over Health Worker Promotions
Rayagada, Odisha – April 5, 2025: A controversy has erupted in the Rayagada District Medical Office over alleged irregularities in the promotion of health workers. Accusations of backdated orders, procedural violations, and official collusion have raised serious concerns.
The issue stems from the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) allegedly receiving a list of promotions on March 24, 2025, three days before the District Level Promotion Committee (DLPC) resolution on March 27, 2025. Notably, the District Welfare Officer was absent from the resolution proceedings, further casting doubt on the legitimacy of the process. On March 28, 2024, orders were issued for the return of all Community Health Center (CHC) employees through telephone directives, adding to the procedural confusion.
Violation of Court Orders & Seniority Denial
Reports indicate that the state’s High Court had issued a stay order on promotions, which was ignored, depriving senior health workers. Additionally, an order was issued on a holiday, and a letter approving promotions was allegedly prepared before the official Advocate General’s letter on March 31, 2025.
Fieldwork Irregularities & Corruption Allegations
Health workers were reportedly assigned field duties without authorization, violating government regulations. Additionally, the district office has lacked a pharmacist for over 20 years, while officials like Mr. Nayak are accused of mismanagement and corruption.
Call for Government Intervention
Despite public outcry, the divisional officer has yet to respond. Citizens urge the District Collector to investigate and prevent further corruption. The state government’s next steps will determine if the irregular promotions are revoked and accountability is ensured.
