Uttarakhand – The districts of Rudraprayag, Tehri, and Chamoli have been hit by severe cloudbursts over the past 12 hours, causing widespread disruption to life. Early Friday morning reports indicate that several people have gone missing in Chenagaad Dugar village and Jaula Baderth village in Rudraprayag district.

In Chamoli district’s Dewal block, a cloudburst triggered floods and landslides, leaving a couple missing, another couple injured, and around 20 livestock buried under debris. Similarly, in Genwali village of Bhilangna block, Tehri district, a cloudburst occurred, but no casualties have been reported so far.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed grief over these disasters and prayed to Baba Kedarnath for everyone’s safety.

Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari reported that Tara Singh and his wife from Mopata are missing, while Vikram Singh and his wife have been injured. Their house and cowshed were buried under debris, and 15–20 animals are reported trapped. Local administration teams have been dispatched to the affected areas for rescue operations.

Due to heavy rainfall, all development blocks in Chamoli district have been declared closed for the day. Several roads in Dewal block have been damaged, and residents of Tharali have been alarmed by continuous rain overnight. Strong rainfall is also reported in Adibadri and Karnaprayag.

According to the District Disaster Operation Center, heavy rainfall in Karnaprayag has caused landslides in Kaleshwar, with debris entering residential homes. JCB machines are being used to remove the rubble and restore access.
