CM Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu strengthens grassroots connection with villagers through ‘Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar’ initiative a Tikkar in Kupvi area

As part of the ambitious ‘Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar’ initiative of the state government, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today visited the picturesque Tikkar village in Kupvi tehsil of Chopal subdivision in Shimla district. The villagers brimming with excitement extended a heartfelt and traditional welcome to the Chief Minister. Despite the chill of the evening, the enthusiasm and hospitality of the villagers radiated their warmth and affection to see the Chief Minister at their doorstep reinforcing his commitment to connecting with the people at the grassroots level.
During the visit the Chief Minister interacted with villagers’ right from children to the elderly and women. The villagers seized the opportunity to inform the Chief Minister of the day-to-day challenges they face. The Chief Minister gave on-the-spot directions to officers to ensure timely resolution of the issues raised by the people of the area.
Sh. Sukhu then visited the home of Hari Singh a resident of Tikkar where he was greeted with a warm welcome as per the local customs. After warming himself by the bonfire the Chief Minister enquired about the availability of health services and the state of education in the area.
Conversing in the local dialect with the villagers the Chief Minister discussed with them the challenges they face, particularly the disruptions in public services during the harsh winter months. With a genuine interest in their well-being, he listened attentively as the villagers freely voiced their concerns. His patient and empathetic approach allowed him to gain a profound understanding of the issues at hand reinforcing his commitment to address the needs of the people residing in the remotest corner of Shimla district.
The Chief Minister informed the villagers about the schemes and initiatives started by the present state Government. He also briefed about the special revenue Lok Adalats at the tehsil and sub-tehsil levels aimed to resolve long-pending revenue cases in a time-bound manner. He further told them about the recent amendments to the law, which have set clear timelines for the resolution of partition and correction cases (nine months), marking cases (three months) and transfer cases (one month). He also shared the state government’s plans to strengthen the rural economy by introducing a Minimum Support Price (MSP) for milk and the procurement of maize and wheat.
Throughout the visit, the Chief Minister took a keen interest in the local folk, culture, their customs and cuisine. He savoured the local delicacies and enjoyed traditional folk music to further strengthen his connection with the people of the area. The positive impact of this initiative was clearly visible in the warmth and affection shown by the residents of Tikkar village.
Santosh Kumar a local resident of Tikkar said that we never imagined that the Chief Minister would come to our doorstep. Today, it feels as though many misconceptions have been dispelled. The government and administration have come to our village to better understand our problems and he was committed to solve them.
The another villager Layak Ram while expressing his admiration said that Thakur Sukhvinder Singh was a passionate and visionary leader having compassion for the people of the state. Otherwise, why would he travel such a long distance to visit our village? This was a real “Vyavastha Parivartan.” He said that Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was the first Chief Minister who visited house of a common man and prior to this he stayed overnight with the people of Dodra Kwar and listened to and resolved their grievances.
Reena Devi of the Tikkar village said that, the one deeply connected to the ground and has a real concern for the people can bring about such a change. His spirit to serve the people is reflected in his efforts. She said that the Chief Minister has demonstrated a firm commitment to reaching out to difficult areas to engage with the people and working towards the betterment of far-flung communities.
Health Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandi, State Congress General Secretary Rajneesh Kimta and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
