PM Modi Turns 75: Nation Celebrates with ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ Launch; Chandigarh, Punjab & Haryana Kick Off Health Camps

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrates his 75th birthday, the BJP launches the nationwide ‘Sewa Pakhwada’. Discover how Chandigarh, Punjab, and Haryana are joining the health and service drive with local events, blood donation camps, and more.

NEW DELHI/CHANDIGARH – Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated his 75th birthday on Wednesday, September 17, receiving a flood of wishes from world leaders, political figures, and citizens across India. True to his style, the milestone was marked not with grand festivities, but with the launch of “Sewa Pakhwada,” a fortnight-long nationwide campaign dedicated to public service, which the Prime Minister himself kicked off from Madhya Pradesh.
Across the nation, and particularly in Chandigarh, Punjab, and Haryana, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has mobilized its cadre to commemorate the occasion with a series of health and nutrition-focused initiatives, reinforcing the theme of ‘Service before Self’.
A Fortnight of Service: Health and Welfare in Focus
The “Sewa Pakhwada,” running from September 17th to Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary on October 2nd, is an annual BJP initiative. This year, the campaign is centered on public health and welfare. Activities planned across the country include:
Free health check-up camps.
Massive blood donation drives.
Distribution of nutritional kits to underprivileged families.
Cleanliness drives at public places and water bodies.
“The Prime Minister has always equated his birthday with a day of service for the people,” a senior BJP leader stated in New Delhi. “This ‘Pakhwada’ is a reflection of his vision to build a healthy and strong India.”
Chandigarh, Punjab & Haryana Join the Nationwide Drive
The spirit of service was vibrantly visible across the region:
In Chandigarh: The city’s BJP unit, led by its president, inaugurated a large-scale blood donation camp at the party’s office in Sector 33. Party workers and volunteers were also seen organizing cleanliness drives around Sukhna Lake and in various market areas, pledging to keep the ‘City Beautiful’ clean.
In Punjab and Haryana: BJP units across both states launched similar campaigns. In major cities like Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Gurugram, and Panipat, free health check-up camps were set up in collaboration with local hospitals. The Haryana Chief Minister’s office announced plans to facilitate health screenings in rural areas, while the Punjab BJP leadership focused on nutritional awareness programs in border districts.
A Nation Reflects: PM Modi’s Political Journey
Beyond the service activities, the day dominated social media, with hashtags like #HappyBdayModiJi and #SewaPakhwada trending since morning. The occasion has also become a moment for national reflection on Prime Minister Modi’s transformative and often-debated political journey.
Discussions online and in news forums are revolving around the far-reaching impact of his government’s policies, from economic initiatives like ‘Make in India’ and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) to landmark decisions like the abrogation of Article 370.
As the “Sewa Pakhwada” gets underway, the message from the Prime Minister and his party is clear: the most meaningful celebration is through dedicated service to the nation and its people. From the national launch in Madhya Pradesh to the local health camps in Chandigarh, the day is being defined by action-oriented public service.
