The Department of School Education, Chandigarh Administration presented a cultural extravaganza on the eve of 76th Republic Day of the country. The grand event was full of patriotism and presented by students of different schools in the city. To celebrate 75 years of adoption of Constitution of India, the department is carrying out year long activities and this remained the pivot for celebrations.
Sh. Rajeev Verma, Chief Secretary, Chandigarh Administration graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Ms. Rachna Verma, w/o Sh. Rajeev Verma, Ms. Prerna Puri, Secretary Education, Smt Anuradha Chagti, Secretary Social Welfare, Sh. H.S. Brar, Director School Education, Sh. Sorabh Arora, Director Culture, Sh. Rajiv Tewari, Director Public Relations and senior officials from Education Department and Chandigarh Administration were also present during the event.
A special felicitation ceremony was carried out for winners of the ‘Kala Utsav’ wherein students who had won prizes in state and national level kala utsav were honoured by the chief guest. Sh. Rajeev Verma congratulated the students,teachers and the department for putting up a great show. He further added how fortunate the citizens are to be part of ‘Amritkal’ of the country which is moving towards the goal of ‘ Viksit Bharat’. He threw light on how Chandigarh has modelled before the nation in adapting NEP, Early Child Care Education and recently launched three new laws. The Chief Secretary urged the audience to cherish freedom and ensure that democracy remains vibrant and robust.
The program included a mesmerising band performance by students from KBDAV School Sector-15, Chandigarh followed by Ganesh Vandana by Chitkara School which left the audience spellbound. The winner of National Kala Utsav Vocal (Solo), Padmakar Kashyap, enthralled the audience with his vocal skills. Third place winners of National Kala Utsav, ‘Story telling’ by Guntasbir Kaur and Siya Sharma from Chitkara International School, intrigued the audience as they narrated the tale of four yugas. One of the biggest highlights of the show was the dance performance by students of class 2 to 6 of PMShri GGMSSS-18 who gave goose bumps to audience with their dance moves. The award winning performance of Bhangra by GMSSS 21 took the program on another high note.
From songs to drama to dance, the evening witnessed a great show.
