India Creates History Underwater! Massive 2,400 Sq Meter Tricolour Unfurled in Sea, Enters Guinness World Records
India has made global history by unfurling the world’s largest national flag underwater at the breathtaking Radhanagar Beach in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The record-breaking event took place on May 2, 2026, at Swaraj Dweep (Havelock Island), where a gigantic Indian Tricolour measuring 60 meters long and 40 meters wide was successfully spread across the ocean floor.
More than 200 skilled divers, including teams from the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, and local marine authorities, participated in the highly coordinated underwater mission. The spectacular achievement was officially recognized by Guinness World Records, with the certificate presented to Lieutenant Governor Admiral D.K. Joshi on-site.
India not only broke Egypt’s previous record but also set another milestone with the tallest human stack underwater. The grand event showcased the crystal-clear waters and rich marine beauty of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands while promoting the region as a world-class destination for adventure and marine tourism.
